If your daily fiber intake tends to be around 10 -12 grams, you don't want to go from 10 to 40 in one day. So, let me suggest, on behalf of the author team, two different approaches to getting to your 40 grams of fiber a day. These are not etched in stone or research based, just reasonable suggestions.

Recently, I accompanied two of the Full Plate Diet authors on a trip to the Pacific Northwest, where they were giving weight loss seminars. The plane ride from Dallas to Seattle is a four hour flight, and I didn't anticipate an abudance of fiber rich foods in the air.

Is Flaxseed Used As A Marketing Ploy?
Yes and no. If the product is being advertised as a great source of omega-3 fat because of the added flax seeds, the answer is Yes, it is probably a marketing ploy. That's because you cannot absorb the omega-3 fat or any other beneficial nutrients from the flax seeds unless they are ground. Why? Because flax seeds are so small that people do not chew them long enough to break into the fibrous seed coat that protects all the nutrients inside the seed, so they end up "going right through you."
